5 Ingredient Chinese-style nourishing soup
This is probably one of the best soups you’ll ever make, and one of the easiest too.
I’ve gotten so much positive feedback after posting this recipe… people are obsessed, and honestly, so am I.
I didn’t come up with this recipe, it’s one I’ve seen posted on Tiktok that originates from traditional Chinese cooking for healing and longevity.
I was skeptical when I first saw this recipe online, but it completely blew my mind. I was not expecting it to be that good.
It’s simple, delicious, comforting, and packed with nutrients that support energy, digestion, skin health, and lower inflammation.
The flavours are light and delicate, while still being incredibly comforting and flavorful.
How I made it:
(Make sure to use a large pot with a tight-fitting lid.)
2 white onions, chopped
2 apples, chopped
2 large pieces of ginger, sliced
4–8 napa cabbage leaves, chopped
1 whole chicken (or chicken pieces equal to roughly the size of a whole chicken)
NOTE: you may be wondering, where’s the liquid? This soup doesn’t need any because it makes it’s own — as it cooks, the ingredients release their juices and create the most delicious broth.
Directions:
Add everything to the pot — chopped onion, chopped apple, ginger, cabbage, and chicken on top.
Turn the heat to low, place the lid on tightly, and let it cook for 1.5–2 hours (closer to 2 hours for full chicken, closer to 1.5 hours for chicken pieces)
When it’s done, the chicken should be very tender. I like to remove the chicken, shred it, remove bones, and add the meat back into the pot.
Season with salt and pepper before serving and enjoy 🤗
