My Nourishing, Frothy & Delicious Warm Drink

This is one of my all-time favorite things to make — and for many good reasons!

It’s a naturally sweet, delicious treat that satisfies cravings without the negative effects of processed sugar. Sweetened with dates, which have fiber to help prevent blood sugar spikes and support hormone balance.

Packed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and fiber — yet low in sugar — it’s incredibly nourishing and supports hormone balance, gut health, glowing skin, strong hair, steady energy, and so much more. I always feel amazing after having it.

I will warn you… it does requires a few extra steps to make, but it’s easy and SO worth it.

The star of this drink is homemade coconut milk. It’s better for you than the canned stuff because it hasn’t been pasteurized (a heat treatment that destroys some of the nutrients), it tastes so much better, has no added fillers or gums, and it’s cheaper to make it at home.

I don’t buy store-bought coconut milk anymore because this stuff is just so much better all around!

To make the homemade coconut milk:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of unsweetened shredded coconut – MUST be unsweetened (flakes work too)

  • 3.5 cups filtered or spring water

  • You will need a nut milk bag to separate the milk from the pulp. You can find nut milk bags on Amazon or health food stores. They can be reused.

Directions:

  • In a blender add the shredded coconut and water, and blend on high-speed for about 1-2 minutes.

  • Strain the mixture through a nut milk bag to separate the liquid from the pulp.

To make the drink:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups homemade coconut milk (see above)

  • 3 Medjool dates, take pits out

  • A few pinches of Ceylon cinnamon (this is preferred over regular cinnamon as regular cinnamon is high in coumarin, which can be toxic when eaten regularly)

  • A pinch of high-quality sea salt

Directions:

  • Add all the ingredients in a blender and blend on high-speed until smooth

  • Heat it up in a pot to have it warm and enjoy! Do not heat it up in a microwave as it can destroy the nutrients and lessen the health benefits.
